2022 Subaru Ascent vs. 2022 Nissan Pathfinder Comparison

With the SUV class growing in popularity by the day, we will be looking into a comparison between two of the top 2022 SUVs. In this review, we will be taking a look at the interior, exterior, engine specs, features, fuel consumption and price of the 2022 Subaru Ascent and 2022 Nissan Pathfinder.

Interior

2022-Subaru-Ascent-vs.-2022-Nissan-Pathfinder-Comparison

Both SUVs are the perfect family haulers. They both boast eight seats: two front, three mid and three rear. The rear seats can, however, be removed in both vehicles for increased cargo space. The Ascent only has a black-on-grey interior. The Pathfinder offers a charcoal or grey interior.

Exterior

In both models, you get a few trim levels. The options for your exterior colours are quite limited in both SUVs. The Ascent comes with seven colour options. The Pathfinder only has six available colours, some coming at an extra cost.

Engine specs

With engine sizes decreasing daily, these two are not the case. The 2022 Subaru Ascent boasts a 2.4L turbocharged inline 4-cylinder motor kicking out 260 horsepower at 5600 RPM. The 2022 Nissan Pathfinder comes in with a 3.5L Dual Over Head Cam V6 kicking out 286 horsepower at 6400 RPM. Both these vehicles have Petrol motors. The Ascent has 277 lb-ft of torque. The Pathfinder only offers 259 lb-ft.

Features

As time progresses, the vehicles we know and love today come with all new bells and whistles. That is no difference between these two. The Pathfinder comes standard with a 7″ touch screen infotainment system and apple car play. The Ascent also has a touch screen system but with a choice of 6.5″ and 8″. Both these vehicles have a push start system, rear view camera and sonars right around the vehicle. With higher-end packages, you even get birds-eye view technology. The Pathfinder comes standard with heated front seats and a heated steering wheel, while higher trim levels get heated rear seats and a fridge in the centre console on the Premium version. The Ascent comes standard with three-stage front heated seats but only gets a heated steering wheel and rear seats on higher trim levels.

Fuel consumption

Both these vehicles come with great fuel consumption by today’s standards. The 2022 Subaru Ascent gives fuel consumption of 8.55 km/L in town, 11.1 km/L on the highway and combined consumption of 9.53km/L. The Pathfinder has a bigger engine and is larger overall, sets out a staggering 8.6 km/L urban, 10.87 km/L highway and a combined 9.52km/L

Price

The Ascent base model starts at $37,295.00, and the premier model is $51,795. The Pathfinder comes in with the base model at $46,873 and the Platinum model at $57,533

Conclusion

With these two vehicles, it all ends up to personal preference when buying. Are you more after a larger vehicle or a crossover, and what can you afford? Both come out from an even standpoint, while the price comes to tip the scales.
